FurEver Friends Polices and Terms of Service
Thank you for choosing FurEver Friends Grooming & More Inc (FurEver Friends) to pamper your beloved pet! Our goal is to provide the safest and most enjoyable grooming experience for both you and your pets. We maintain a clean grooming salon and adhere to the highest standards in our grooming practices and the products we use. Our policies and terms of service are designed to ensure the physical and mental well-being of your pet, you, and our staff. FurEver Friends is dedicated to making each appointment as joyful and stress-free as possible for everyone involved. Please carefully review the following policies and terms of service.
Entering and Exiting the Salon, Drop Off, Pick Up, and Parking
We kindly request that all dogs be on a leash when entering and exiting the salon to ensure the safety of your pet and others. Cats should be in a carrier for safe transport to and from the salon. For returning clients, we offer curbside drop-off and pickup; please inquire about this service when scheduling your appointment. Late pickups will incur a $20 fee after 30 minutes, with an additional $15 fee for every extra 15 minutes.
Grooming Process
There are a few things to keep in mind when your pet is being groomed. Pets are bathed before grooming, as a clean pet is easier to groom than a dirty one. Once your pet is dry, the groomer will clip and dremel nails, clean the ears, and then begin the grooming process. The time it takes to groom your pet varies depending on how well they handle the process. While we aim to complete grooming within the estimated times provided at drop-off, this is not always possible.
Bathing Requirements
All pets must be bathed as part of the grooming process to ensure their well-being and to protect the groomer's equipment. For pets with allergies, skin issues, or other sensitivities, we can offer additional solutions. Clients are also welcome to provide any veterinarian-prescribed medicated shampoos as needed.
Ear Care and Ear Hair Removal
All pets will have their ears cleaned with a mild ear cleaner. If we notice any signs of an ear infection, we will inform you so that you can consult your veterinarian. Ear hair will be removed/not removed based on your preference and your vet’s advice. While ear hair removal is typically a standard part of the grooming process, please let us know if you prefer not to have your pet's ear hair removed.
Nail Trimming
During each grooming appointment, all pets will have their nails dremeled for safety and quality. In some cases, if necessary, nails may also be clipped. We take great care to trim the nails as short as possible without causing any discomfort to your pet. If your pet shows signs of stress or aggression, we may not be able to dremel the nails.
Deshedding
Our deshedding policy aims to provide a thorough and effective solution for managing your pet's shedding, ensuring their comfort and cleanliness, while maintaining the highest standards of grooming care. Our deshedding service includes thorough brushing, blow-drying, and the use of specialized deshedding tools to remove loose undercoat hair. We may also use deshedding shampoos and conditioners if required for an additional cost. The duration of the deshedding treatment may vary depending on the breed, size, and coat condition of your pet, but typically ranges from 30 to 60 minutes. Deshedding treatments are offered as an additional service and are not included in our standard grooming packages. Pricing is based on the time required and the specific needs of your pet. We can provide a cost estimate before starting the treatment, so you are aware of the additional charges.
Matted Coats
Matted coats can cause various skin and health problems. Matted fur prevents air circulation to the skin, resulting in hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots, and other parasites may be hiding in the coat, causing further infections. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing your pet pain when they move or lay on mats. The skin underneath is often raw and inflamed. Matted coats do not dry properly and can lead to rotting fur and skin.
Due to matting, your pets hair may need to be shaved very short to the skin. The pet may exhibit signs of skin irritation and sores resulting from matting, a wet undercoat, and a dirty coat that may contain debris. Grooming sessions for pets that have not been groomed frequently enough and are matted may be long, stressful, or painful. An additional fee of $20-$60 may be applied for shaving off mats.
At FurEver Friends, our goal is to make your pet's grooming experience as stress-free as possible. Depending on the condition of your pet, FurEver Friends may determine that shaving the pets coat down is the most humane solution. This involves a short clip to remove all matting. When feasible, we will de-mat or brush out the pet's coat, but only if it does not cause excessive pain and suffering. There is a fee for dematting of $1 per minute, or $60 per hour, in addition to the grooming price. Clients will be notified of any additional costs for shaving mats or dematting before the service is performed.
There is a strong chance that your pet’s skin will become irritated during the clipping process. The matted hair rests tightly against the skin, and the only way to remove mats is to use a short blade to clip between the skin and mats. Your pet may be nicked or cut because the groomer has to work very close to the skin to remove the matted coat. Our groomers are very careful, but the possibility of injury exists. Understanding these risks, FurEver Friends is authorized to proceed with the dematting or shaving process.
FurEver Friends will be happy to show you how to care for your pet's coat to prevent matting from recurring. Please schedule a follow-up appointment to speak with our groomers about the best methods for maintaining your pet's coat. Should my pet need veterinarian care after or during the process, the client agrees to pay any and all veterinarian fees.
Parasites Fleas / Ticks
FurEver Friends strives to be a parasite-free salon. This policy ensures the safety of all clients and maintains a clean environment. Please ensure your dog is flea-free before their grooming appointment. We do not accept dogs with fleas in the salon for grooming. If fleas are found on your pet during grooming, the session will be stopped immediately, your pet will be sent home, and you will be charged for the full groom. The parasite issue must be resolved before scheduling a new appointment.
If ticks are found but not attached to your pet, our staff will remove them. If ticks are attached and we cannot safely remove them, we will refer you to your veterinarian. We highly recommend keeping your pet on a regular monthly flea and tick preventative. For more information on Flea & Tick Prevention, please consult your veterinarian.
If a flea infestation requires temporary closure of the grooming salon for cleaning, the client will be responsible for the costs of fumigation, additional cleaning of the salon and equipment, and any loss of revenue incurred during the closure. The loss of revenue fee will be calculated based on the average earnings for the time the salon is closed due to the flea infestation.
Puppies
FurEver Friends aims to make your puppy’s visit as pleasant as possible. We start with simple haircuts to ensure a positive experience. While we strive to make grooming enjoyable for your puppy, the first haircut is not guaranteed. Teaching your puppy basic discipline, including how to remain still and calm for brushing, will make professional grooming easier for both your pet and the groomer.
Female Pets
For the safety of your pet, we do not groom pets that are in heat, pregnant, or nursing. Pets in heat can cause increased stress and distractions for other pets in the salon. This policy helps us maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for all pets. Please be aware of your pet’s heat cycle. Last-minute cancellations for this reason are not acceptable, and clients will be charged for the groom.
Extra Large Pets
Owners of extra large dog breeds are encouraged to schedule grooming appointments in advance to ensure we have ample time and resources to accommodate their pets. Our groomers are trained to handle extra large dog breeds with care and patience. However, for the safety of both the pet and the groomer, we require that these dogs be well-behaved and accustomed to grooming. If an extra large dog poses a safety risk or is unmanageable, we reserve the right to stop the grooming session and reschedule if necessary. Owners must inform us of any health conditions, mobility issues, or special needs their pet may have. Grooming fees for extra large dog breeds may be higher due to the additional time, effort, and resources required to groom them effectively. Owners will be provided with a cost estimate before the grooming session begins. To ensure the safety and well-being of the pets and our staff, we may have a weight limit for extra large dog breeds. Please inquire about our specific weight limits when scheduling an appointment.
Senior Pets
FurEver Friends will exercise extra care and patience for older pets. However, we are not responsible for any reactions due to the mental or physical stress of grooming geriatric pets. If we determine that brushing or clipping is causing too much stress, we will modify or terminate the haircut for the safety of your pet. Please notify us of any health conditions that might make your pet uncomfortable during the bathing, drying, or clipping phases. Grooming elderly or frail pets is conducted at your risk.
For senior dogs and dogs with medical issues, we will take extra care to ensure their comfort. Our focus will be on comfort rather than perfection. You must inform us of any medical, physical, or emotional issues, allergies, sensitivities, or preexisting conditions. These may include prior surgeries, hip and joint issues, arthritis, warts, moles, ear infections, skin problems, etc. Additionally, please inform us of any new conditions as they arise. Please ensure that your senior pet is stable enough to stand on their own.
Injuries
There is always a possibility of cuts, nicks, or burns during the grooming process. Some pets are more challenging to handle than others, and accidents can occur. Additionally, mat burns or bruising may become visible after mats are shaved out. This is not a result of the groomer's carelessness, but rather the severity of the mats. We will conduct an inspection of your pet upon arrival and during the bathing process. Your groomer will inform you of any findings during these inspections. If any cuts occur during grooming, we will notify you and provide advice on how to treat them. Injuries resulting from the condition of the dog's or cat's matting are not the responsibility of FurEver Friends, and any associated veterinary costs will be the client's responsibility.
Accidents
Although accidents are very rare, there is always a risk when working with pets. Grooming equipment is sharp, and despite using extreme caution and care, possible issues such as cuts, nicks, scratches, or quicking of nails can occur, often when a pet is wiggling or moving. Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priorities. If an accident occurs that is deemed serious by our staff, and the pet owner is not on-site, we will seek immediate veterinary care for the pet. The pet owner will be informed as soon as possible and any veterinary costs incurred will be the responsibility of the pet owner.
Considerations
For the safety of your pet and our professional groomers, we request that you do not interrupt the grooming process. Please wait to pick up your pet until you receive a text or call from us. An early arrival can cause your pet to become overly excited, which raises safety concerns. If you arrive while your pet is still being groomed, please refrain from speaking to your pet or allowing them to see you. We aim to ensure your pet is groomed as safely as possible, but an excited pet can pose a danger during grooming. If you insist on speaking to your pet or the groomer, we reserve the right to end the grooming session, even if it is not completed, and the full grooming price will be charged.
To maintain a clean and sanitary environment, we kindly ask that you walk your dog to relieve themselves before your appointment. A clean-up fee of $20 may apply if this becomes a recurring issue.
Personal Property
FurEver Friends is not liable for any lost or stolen items belonging to clients or pets while they are at our salon or in the parking lot.
Dangerous or Aggressive Pets
We may be unable to complete grooming pets that pose a threat to themselves, other pets, or our groomers. FurEver Friends reserves the right to refuse any services at any time. If your pet is too stressed or becomes dangerous to groom, FurEver Friends may refuse, stop, or cancel grooming services at any point before, during, or after grooming, and the client will be charged a full grooming fee. If you fail to notify us of any potential danger or behavioral issue, you are liable for all groomer’s medical fees, out-of-work compensation, and all property damages. All bites will be reported to local authorities as required by law. Pets that bark excessively must be picked up immediately after their appointment. Kennel-aggressive and dog-aggressive pets must also be picked up immediately after grooming is completed.
Use of Muzzles
Muzzling does not harm your pet and protects both the pet and the groomer. In some cases, muzzling may even calm a stressed pet, allowing the grooming process to continue. Our muzzles are made of soft nylon and mesh material to ensure your pet's comfort. If a pet remains dangerous despite muzzling, FurEver Friends reserves the right to stop grooming services at any time, and the full groom fee will be collected. We do not muzzle unless necessary. Other methods to calm your pet are used first, with muzzling as a last resort. We reserve the right to muzzle any dog. If the pet does not respond well to muzzling, we will stop grooming immediately. Extremely aggressive pets will not be groomed
Allergic Reactions
We take great care in selecting the best products for your pet's skin and coat condition. We avoid strongly fragranced products as they can sometimes cause reactions, but reactions can still occur. If your dog has a reaction to a grooming product, please inform us within 24 hours of your visit. All medical expenses for veterinary care due to the reaction will be the responsibility of the pet's owner.
Health or Medical Problems
Occasionally, grooming can reveal hidden medical issues or exacerbate existing ones. This may occur during or after the grooming process. All medical expenses for veterinary care related to these issues will be the responsibility of the pet's owner.
Veterinarian Authorization-Medical Emergencies
This release grants FurEver Friends full authorization to seek medical treatment from the nearest veterinarian in the event of any medical emergencies while your pet is in our care. All veterinary costs and expenses will be the responsibility of the pet's owner.
Vaccinations
All pets being serviced in our salon must be up to date on all vaccinations. All pets must be current on rabies and distemper.
While Your Dog Is In Our Care
Please keep your phone with you and be prepared to answer while your pet is at our salon! Your groomer may have questions and need your immediate attention. We will also need to contact you for pick-up. If you cannot answer your phone during your pet's visit, it might be best to reschedule for a day when you can be reached while we are caring for your pet.
Satisfaction
Our groomers will always strive to give your pet the cut you desire. However, please remember that your pet's comfort and health are our top priorities. We cannot send a dog or cat home in an unhealthy state. We keep detailed notes on who groomed your pet and the specifics of the groom. You can always request the same groomer, and if they are unavailable, another groomer will refer to the notes to ensure consistency.
If you are unsatisfied with the groom, please inform us before leaving the shop so that the groomer can make any necessary corrections and update our notes for future reference. If changes are requested more than 24 hours after the grooming appointment, an additional charge may apply, which may include a re-bathing fee.
Tipping Your Groomers
If you are pleased with the service you have received, we encourage you to show your appreciation to your groomer. While gratuities are not required, they are a meaningful way to express your gratitude. Even a simple note saying 'thanks for a job well done' can make a big difference!
Appointment Policy
All FurEver Friends grooming services are by appointment only, and our salon closes when we are done grooming for the day.
Late Arrival
Timeliness is crucial for maintaining our grooming schedule. Arriving late for your appointment not only delays your pet's pick-up time but also disrupts the schedule for all of our clients. Please be aware that a fee may be applied for arrivals 15 minutes or more past the scheduled time. If you are going to be late, please notify us as soon as possible. Groomers may cancel the appointment at their discretion. Groomers may also refuse appointments more than 30 minutes late. If your pet is late, please also expect that they may take longer to finish than usual, as the groomers cannot allow all their other grooms to be late to accommodate for time requests. We appreciate your punctuality and understanding.
Cancellation Policy
At FurEver Friends, we kindly request that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice for the cancellation of your pet’s grooming appointment. Our groomers handle each pet with a gentle and loving approach, ensuring that every appointment is a serene and attentive experience. Your salon appointment is a reservation for our services and the individualized care we provide for each pet. Due to our commitment to quality care, we can only accommodate a limited number of appointments each day. A missed appointment not only affects our groomers but also impacts our small business. If a cancellation is made less than 24 hours in advance, fifty percent of the grooming appointment fee will be charged for the first infraction, and the full grooming appointment fee will be charged for subsequent infractions. If an appointment is canceled without providing 24 hours’ notice, a deposit may be required to reschedule a future appointment. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
No-Shows
Since we schedule appointments daily, a no-show results in an empty time slot that could have been used by another client. Therefore, a fifty percent appointment fee will be charged for the first missed appointment, and the full grooming appointment fee will be charged for subsequent infractions. If an appointment is missed without notice, a deposit may be required to reschedule a future appointment. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Confirmations and Reminders
FurEver Friends uses multiple methods to confirm and remind you about your appointment. Appointment confirmations are sent once your time slot is scheduled with a follow-up reminder. To ensure it is received, all messages are sent via text message unless requested otherwise. If not confirmed, a customer service representative may reach out the day prior via phone call.
